Lorenzo's "Cruising Logs"

Translator's note:

Imagine a student in Philosophy.
An amateur poet, actor and musician to boot.
Right, an uncontrollable talker beyond any reasonable limit.
And a "know-it-all" as well.

Imagine all this, and I hope you will sympathize with the translator (me!), faced by the  daunting task of rendering a very colloquial narrative, full of references which would be understandable only to insiders.

I have tried to preserve as much as possible the original e-mails, although I took the liberty to cut some sentences which I really did not know how to translate effectively or which contained word-plays which would not work in another language.
I also removed the occasional colloquial profanities which could have fallen foul of automated web-site rating engines.
